Carrying large sums of cash around can be risky so you might want to think about using your cash card at a local cash machine/ ATM. This way of getting foreign currency normally offers good rates of exchange, however, check your charge provider or Bank doesn't charge every time you withdraw cash, as most do.
Also, always tell your Bank you are going to be using your card overseas so they don't register the overseas withdrawals, notice it's different to the usual card activity and freeze the card.
